Calling around the world
I try my best to use yahoo, msn, skype etc, but when you are talking to your parents or grandparents, its nearly impossible to get them online and I waste most of the time and money just askin gthem to click here and click there..don't you?
I've recently started using a site called TalkEasyNow.com. Not bad as it seems to be a small community supported site. I've had some live chats with their support team and it does look like the ral deal. After a lot of going backwards and forwards, I signed up for one of their free voip accounts for my mom back in India and a calling card account for me. I sent a small voip phone from grandstream down to india and its just a wonderful experience really. All she has to do is answer the voip phone when it rings..no PC required! And because I have a calling card number, I can call my other friends and family at good prices.
I used to talk to my mom for hours and hours (she lives alone and I really like to chat). Now it doesn't cost me a penny to call my mom!. Well I do in a way. I had to take a broadband internet feed from VSNL which costs me about 250 indian rupees, but thats not even a tenth of what I typically pay a day calling her previously.
I really think thats the way forward, just get your loved one a voip phone (about $40 to $70 ) and thats it!! no monthly charges nothing!!! talk for as long as you want.
If you want any help, feel free to let me know as I really feel excited about this. I've heard about quality problems when calling over the internet, but I think those were bygone days..now a days it costs naaathing and quality is brilliant!! try it out. www.talkeasynow.com. I'm not affiliated to them in any way by the way, just happy to help them get wider customer base. Besides we don't buy anything from them for the voip service (just use them if and when I need calling cards thats all).
Good luck and do let me know your experiences with calling around the world!

What do you do when you see someone falls?
When I woke up this morning I was a bit solemn ah there was a reason - today was my last day of leave, my little one’s second last day of holidays as well. Better make good use of it I thought. So off we went bright and early - at 2.00 pm (well 2.00 pm is quite early on a holiday after brunch) to a children’s activity centre. The place was not as crowded as I expected on a school holiday. My little one ran off to play as I settled down on a chair to spend the next couple of hours to dig my head in to a book. After an hour or so I thought it would be good to go outside and see the activities that they had - this was the first time I had been to the outdoor area of the centre.
One of the activities in the outdoor area was sifting for gold from a water canal with stones and mud in it. If you found 5 gold stones you could win a medallion. As I stood watching the children dig for gold, I noticed an elderly gentleman with his grand daughter sifting for gold. In an instant I saw him slip his foot and lose his grip, but luckily he caught hold of the wood railing and was alright. My instant reaction was to go and check on him if he fell down, but when I realised that he was alright back on his foot I just looked away as if nothing has happened. The underlying thought behind this reaction was that I feel terribly embarrassed if I fall down in public. Can’t remember when I started feeling like this. Did anyone laugh at me when I was little when I fell down? I am all to help someone who has hurt themselves but if they are ok, my subconscious springs in to action and I just ignore the whole thing. Telling of this I think I always have one fall a year mostly during winter and I just pray that it is at someplace and sometime that nobody is around as the first thing that I do after getting up is to look around to see if anybody saw me fall. I don’t know how other people react to a person falling down? What would you do?
